Weaving Together Beauty and Justice

GIRAFFE was founded in 2006 by Priscilla, a lifelong designer, traveler, and passionate advocate for fair trade. Her journey began in Washington, where her love for sewing and design blossomed into a degree in clothing and textiles. A pivotal moment came when she was invited to teach at a trade school in Haiti. What was meant to be a short stay turned into four transformative years, where she witnessed the power of creativity, resilience, and resourcefulness in the face of adversity.

Inspired by the artisans she met who crafted beauty from scarcity, Priscilla returned to the U.S. with a deep sense of purpose. She continued working in retail and volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages, immersing herself further in the world of fair trade. Along the way, she also ran her own millinery business and partnered with local artists, all while gathering the tools to bring her dream to life.

GIRAFFE is the heart of that dream: a fair trade boutique dedicated to handmade home décor, clothing, accessories, and gifts sourced from over 50 countries and local artists in the Pacific Northwest. Each piece we offer is more than a product; it’s part of a story that connects cultures, honors craftsmanship, and makes a difference.
